It looks like it. We are not 100% certain but as we gathered more facts today, it is looking like we have been skunked!

About past midnight last night, hubby let the dog in from potty and got a massive stinking smell of burning rubber. At that time we had the dishwasher running on high sanitary clean mode and both of us thought that something in the dishwasher was burning. There was none that looked like burned rubber or plastic but the smell persisted throughout the whole house. We readily opened the windows and aired out the house as much as we could. By 4am this morning, when I got up, our bedroom STILL smelled terrible to the point that it gave me a headache. When I got out of the bedroom, the rest of the house was smell-free.

Later today, hubby dropped off Brandon at Aimee's and Aimee asked what smelled like skunk. They searched and it seemed like it was coming from Brandon's Jacket.

And then hubby had the same issue at work where people were asking if they could smell something "skunky".

I on the other hand have not had any questions at work but I am sure I stunk too.

Our guess is our dog was skunked and she brought in the smell to the entire house. That explains why only our bedroom smelled this morning when the rest of the house was ok. Our boy most likely hugged or played with her before he and daddy left the house this morning and the scent got to his stuff and diaper bag.

So, I am breathing in and out right now, trying to relax, trying to prevent a cardiac arrest and not stress about what is awaiting at home tonight. Hubby advised to do laundry. I hope we'll get rid of the smell easily but I remember reading about it on the internet in the past and articles described that the smell stays in the house for days.

So much for my plans to visit a friend tonight, have a great dinner with Brandon, and watch a movie. Bummer!
